The Mitsubishi L200 has a long and fairly illustrious history on the UK pick-up market, spanning over 30 years. The fifth generation to carry the L200 badge is improved across the board compared to the Series 4 and Mitsubishi  continues to offer a full spread of single, extended and double-cab models to suit all tasks.

The Series 3 version of the Mitsubishi L200 really hit the big time, selling over 12,000 units in 2003 during the UK's pick-up truck boom. Back then, the tax regime looked very favourably on the double-cab pick-up, with businesses reclaiming the VAT on the purchase price and company car users paying a flat tax rate, making big savings on benefit in kind company car tax.

Things tightened up on the benefit in kind tax front and pick-up sales dropped slightly, with the Series 4 selling just under 6,500 units in 2014. However Mitsubishi sold more than 7,000 high specification Series 5 double-cab L200s in 2015 along with 1,500 4Life utility-spec Series 4 models. With the 4Life trucks now brought up to Series 5 trim as well, and Euro 6 engines adopted on all models, the company is looking forward to rising sales again going forwards.

In 1991, the second-generation ( 2G ) digital cellular technology was launched in Finland by Radiolinja on the GSM standard. This sparked competition in the sector as the new operators challenged the incumbent 1G network operators.

Ten years later, in 2001, the third generation ( 3G ) was launched in Japan by NTT DoCoMo on the WCDMA standard. [7] This was followed by 3.5G, 3G+ or turbo 3G enhancements based on the high-speed packet access (HSPA) family, allowing UMTS networks to have higher data transfer speeds and capacity.
